Artemis is best known for her specialized workshops on the Turkish Oriental and Turkish Romany dance genres. For this workshop, she is presenting the contrasts of Turkish Oriental with other styles of Middle Eastern Dance on Saturday, and on Sunday a class and lecture on Turkish Cengi, the famous female public entertainers of the Ottoman Empire. She will teach about the history of Cengi dancing, review costuming of the Cengi dancers plus and teach a complete choreography, including instructions on how to play Turkish Wooden spoons (Kasiklar). |
